Potawatomi Hotel & Casino originally opened as Potawatomi Bingo on March 7, 1991. It was a 45,800-square foot bingo hall with 2,500 seats.
A gaming compact was signed with the state in 1992 that allowed the tribe to add slot machines. In the following years the casino expanded in size and offerings.
A $240 million expansion project was completed in June 2008 that tripled the casino's size, added new restaurants and also a 1,700-space parking garage.
The name is officially changed to Potawatomi Hotel & Casino on July 1, 2014. That was followed in August by the opening of the hotel.
In 2017 the Potawatomi announced plans for a second hotel tower and opened it Aug 8, 2019. The addition has 119 rooms bringing the total to 500.

Potawatomi Hotel & Casino opens new hotel tower
August 8, 2019
Potawatomi Hotel & Casino has added 119 rooms and suites with the opening of its second hotel tower. The 19-story addition now brings the casino to 500 total hotel rooms. New amenities include a spa, salon, meeting rooms and a ballroom.
Mr. Rodney Ferguson, the CEO and General Manager at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, was pleased to announce:
'We are thrilled to showcase this new hotel tower and provide new amenities to our wonderful guests and the Milwaukee community. It's because of them along with our hard-working team members that we have become Wisconsin's premier entertainment destination.'
This expansion of the hotel began in 2017. The original tower with 381 guest rooms was built in 2014.
Potawatomi Construction Milestone with Topping Off of 2nd Hotel Tower
August 21, 2018
On Thursday the new hotel tower at the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino lifted the highest beam into place. The new hotel project will be 19 stories and will be connected to the first tower. When completed the new tower will offer 119 guest rooms. The new tower is expected to be opened next year.
The project was developed to meet the needs for more suites. The original tower was built in 2014 and offers 381 guest rooms. It is the same size as the new tower. However, the new tower will consist of 119 suites. This will bring the total amount of rooms at the hotel casino to 500.
$80 million is the cost of the new hotel tower project. Residents of the city will make up 20 percent of the work being done. Minority owned companies will make up 20 percent of the subcontractor work. When the project is completed, 50 new employment positions will be created.
In addition to the new hotel tower, there will also be a new event venue. The new room will be able to provide hosting space for conventions, large weddings, and banquets. There will also be space for back of house operations. The space will connect the casino to the tower. The new four-story addition will be 70,000 square feet.
The Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, owned and operated by the Forest County Potawatomi Community. In 1991 the gaming venue first opened as a bingo hall. After several years of renovations and expansions, the casino now operates 2,500 slot machines, close to 100 game tables, a bingo hall with 1,300 seats, a 500 seat theater, and 7 restaurants.

Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, formerly Potawatomi Bingo Casino, is a Native American casino in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, owned and operated by the Forest County Potawatomi Community. It first opened its doors March 7, 1991. Located on Canal Street in the Menomonee Valley near Downtown Milwaukee, this entertainment destination offers a variety of entertainment options, including a 20-table poker room, multiple restaurants and dining options, a food court (with several vendors/small restaurants), the Northern Lights Theater, the Sky Lodge (a smoke-free casino), and a 500-seat two-tiered theater (the Northern Lights Theater) that combines entertainment and dining. It's a popular destination spot for visitors outside of Milwaukee.
The casino underwent an expansion that was completed in the summer of 2008, expanding the number of table games to 60 and slot machines to over 3,000. The connected hotel stands eighteen stories high (numbered as nineteen due to the common exclusion of the thirteenth floor), and is the tallest habitable structure in the city west of Interstate 94 (with the roof of Miller Park nearby standing 70 feet higher).
In May 2017, Potawatomi Hotel & Casino announced that it wants to expand the hotel with the construction of a second tower.[1] The second tower is expected to cost around $80 million and will house 119 rooms and suites, bringing the hotel’s total number to 500. The 180,000-square-foot addition will also feature a spa and additional meeting space. It is expected to open in the spring of 2019.
Gaming[edit]
The Potawatomi Casino has one of the largest gaming floors in all of Wisconsin, with a bingo hall measuring 45,800 square feet (4,250 m2), which can accommodate around 2,500 players. There are more than 3,000 machines for gaming as well as 100 poker and table games.[2]
