The Main Event continues in Day 4 of the World Series of Poker and 1,286 players have made the money starting at $15,000. More than 8,500 entries started the championship event and the final table.
The Card Player Poker Tour returned to the Bicycle Hotel & Casino for the Big Poker Oktober tournament series. The seventh CPPT series held at the Bike will see a total of 49 tournaments and satellites running from Sep. 28 through Oct. 20, with $1,975,000 in guaranteed prize pools on offer during this exciting poker festival.
The first week and a half of action has already seen a number of big payouts awarded. In the $250 buy-in $150,000 guaranteed Quantum event, the final four players agreed to a deal that saw Jose Luis Gutierrez crowned the champion. He earned $32,000 and a seat into the $1,100 buy-in CPPT no-limit hold’em $500,000 guaranteed Card Player Poker Tour no-limit hold’em main event that will take place from Oct. 17-20.
The CPPT main event will feature three starting flights, each beginning at 11:30 on Oct. 17-19. Players can also take advantage of the Quantum Tournament format and buy directly into day 2 for $4,300 on Oct. 20. Day 2 features single re-entry for the first two levels, with players who buy-in that day receiving an average stack of 120,000 with blinds resuming at 1,000-2,000 with a big-blind ante of 2,000.
Bike Tournament Director Mo Fathipour pioneered the Quantum Tournament format, which has been a hit with participants in this event in recent years. “Players love it because the prize pool goes up and the tournament draws some professional players,' said Fathipour. 'The concept is getting popular. We had it in Canada, we had it in Las Vegas, and we had it in San Diego. It’s going almost everywhere.”
In 2018 this event drew a field of 524 total entries, creating a $642,140 prize pool. In the end, 34-year-old poker pro Steve Jun emerged victorious with the trophy and the $149,733 top prize. Runner-up Duey Duong made his third final-table finish in this event in four years, having placed third in 2015 and fifth in 2017.
In addition to the CPPT main event, there will be another nine events with guaranteed prize pools, including the $1,000,000 guaranteed ‘Quantum Million 3’ tournament that runs from Oct. 5-13.
The Bicycle Hotel & Casino unveiled a $50 million hotel expansion to the property late in 2015, improving on what was already one of the best places in the world to play poker. The 117,907-square-foot addition boasts 99 rooms, including 29 suites, as well as a multitude of amenities including the Bike Brewery, a full spa and an elevated outdoor pool deck with private cabanas.
