There are 80 students in the dealers school, however, casino officials say they expect to fill over 500 positions in many other areas before the end of the year. Officials added the casino will employ close to 800 people when it is completed in 2015.
'For our arena casino, which is the first phase, we're looking to hire a little over 500. So that's a lot of positions, putting a lot of people to work.' said Kansas Star official, Diana Farha.
The 80 students were selected from 800 applicants after taking math and knowledge test, and having interviews with Kansas Star Casino Hotel representatives. All applicants, 45 women and 35 men are from Kansas, and most are from the Wichita metro area. Students at the Kansas Star dealer school will learn to deal blackjack, mini baccarat, three-card poker, pai gow and other games. Training runs four hours a day, five days a week, until the casino opens in January, 2012. The interim casino will open inside the Kansas Star's equestrian/events center with 32 gaming tables, as well as 1,310 slot machines. The casino will have 50 tables and 2,000 slot machines when completed.

Was just reading a post in another forum by someone who works in the same casino, saying that in the first week of croupier school they were required to do a test of 50 questions in 10 minutes calculating the blackjack payout for various amounts, requiring 40/50 to pass, and failure = dismissal!
